St Joseph Collegiate Church in Klimontów
In picturesquely situated Klimontów there is a beautiful baroque Collegiate Church of chancellor Jerzy Ossoliński’s Foundation, which was built in 1643-1650. It is one of the most original and beautiful buildings erected on an elliptic plan according to an Italian architect Lawrence Senes’s design referring to the architecture of Santa Maria della Salute church in Venice. Inside the temple stucco made before 1647 by John the Baptist Falconi, early baroque portals, rococo polychrome on the walls and the porch vaults, the rococo chancel and organ as well as four altars deserve attention. An interesting church and post- Dominican monastery (1613-1623) of the Jan Zbigniew Ossoliński’s Foundation as well as the classical synagogue from 1851 are also worth seeing in the town.
