Opened in October 2006, the Kielce Historical Museum is one of the youngest cultural institutions of the Świętokrzyski region. It features a permanent exhibition entitled Kielce Through Centuries.

In the late 16th century Stanisław Sobek of Sulejów (Brochwicz coat-of-arms), castellan of Sandomierz and treasurer of the crown, started construction of a castle upon River Nida and founded the town of Sobków.

The castle is located in a little town of Ujazd situated near the south-eastern boundary of the Śętokrzyskie Mountains. Built inside massive stone walls with bastions at the five corners, this mannerist palace embodied the structure of the calendar.

Built on the southern slope of the Castle Hill (18thc.), it"s the only timber (larch wood) manor in Kielce. Covered with shingle roof and entered through a charming portico with columns, the Laszczyk family manor houses the head office of the Open-Air Museum of the Kielce Village and temporary exhibitions.

The Manor House was built in the second half of the 18th century in baroqe style by Józef Wierciński. In the 19th century the object was rebuilt in classical style. Today, the manor house presents historic interiors fitted with artistic cloths, lamp collections and furniture.

Driving from Ruda Strawczyńska to Mniów, it is worth taking a break and stopping at Kuęniaki in order to see a huge metallurgical furnace, very interesting as regards the architecture, which once belonged to a steel mill called “Jadwiga”.

The exhibition is located in Kielce Cultural Centre facility in the premises of theatrical paint room, which has been used to prepare elements of stage design. Due to the specific nature of the interior (industrial, very modern) gallery specializes in presenting the most diverse forms of modern art.
