Description
The Solec-Zdrój health resort is located in the scenic town of Solec-Zdrój (Świętokrzyskie voivodeship), on the territory of a picturesque spa park. Solec-Zdrój is situated 3 km from the Sandomierz – Kraków road, 20 km from Busko-Zdrój, 70 km from Kielce, and 90 km from Kraków. Flowing out of a few 170-meter-deep boreholes, medicinal waters such as sulphide brines containing sulphide and polysulphide ions are the greatest treasure of the Solec-Zdrój spa. These waters also contain chloride, bromide, iodide, and boride ions as well as many elements such as calcium, magnesium, lithium, iron, strontium, selenium, and manganese. All these give the local medicinal waters characteristic salty taste and hydrogen sulphide odor. The sulphide ions content in brine used in medical treatment amounts to 103 mg per liter. Solec-Zdrój health resort offers very effective therapy for those who suffer from ankylosing spondylitis, ankylosing arthritis, degenerative affection of joints, spinal disc herniation, post-traumatic conditions, ischias, dermatological diseases, respiratory and circulatory system disorders, gout, heavy metal poisoning, and osteoporosis.
The main spa procedures include sulphide baths, carbonic acid baths and therapeutic mud packings. There is also a variety of supplementary treatments such as various massages and baths as well as many therapies with use of electromagnetic field.
The Solec-Zdrój spa has a number of historical buildings:
• Neo-classical Bath-House built in 1922-26
• Sanatorium “Jasna” erected about 1910 according to the design by architect Jan Heurich
• Villa “Prus” designed by Jan Heurich and raised after 1910;
• Sanatorium “Świt” (formerly “Hotel”) built in 1918;
• Villa “Irena” was also designed by Jan Heurich and erected in 1911.
• Building of Physiotherapy was constructed in the early 20th century (kinesitherapy, massages, electro-, magneto-, photo-, and peloidotherapies).
• Hospitality Services Bureau is housed in a spa park pavilion designed by Jan Heurich and built in 1910
