The Mausoleum of the Martyrdom of Polish Villages in Michniów is a special place on the map of the Świętokrzyskie province. In July 1943, the Germans twice raided the village of Michniów, which is today located in the Suchedniów municipal, killing 204 people.
The memory of the victims of those tragic events is honoured in the form of this architecturally unique commemorative complex erected in the place where they were buried. The complex consists of a tomb, the Michniów Pieta monument by Wacław Stawecki, a memorial wall with crosses, and a mausoleum building designed by architect Mirosław Nizio. Inside the mausoleum, you can learn more about the history of the Polish countryside during World War Two, told by means of modern museum narratives.
