The rock face created after the end of exploitation is a very interesting educational element, allowing for a thorough understanding of the geological structure of the interior of the hills in the Chęciny region. , Middle Devonian thick-bedded dolomites have been exposed here, with limestone deposits in the upper parts. The rock layers are partially disturbed by faults.
The northern wall shows a zone of numerous cracks filled with white and pink calcite veins with a varied structure, similar to the "Zelejowska rose". In the interwar period and after the war, until 1963, this valuable decorative material was used as aggregate for the production of terrazzo. The slopes of Rzepka and Beylina are an area where clear remains of old mining works from the 14th-19th centuries have been preserved. As on most of the surrounding hills, galena was initially sought here.
A large educational and conference facility, the European Centre for Geological Education, has been built at the bottom of the excavation.
