The Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship is exceptionally rich in protected areas. Apart from the Świętokrzyski National Park, there are as many as eight Landscape Parks.
Suchedniowsko- Oblęgorki Landscape Park, where unique natural reserves, among which Dalejów and Świnia Góra reservations and famous Bartek Oak deserve a special attention, are protected. In addition to this, the Park has been established to protect cultural facilities- the remains of the Old-Polish Industrial Region.
Sieradowicki Landscape Park, which encompasses an area of great hisorical qualities, whose forests gave shelter to insurgent troops of 1863 and the Second World War guerillas e.g. of the biggest Home Army guerilla unit on Kielecka Land under legendary major Jan Piwnik “Ponury”’s command.
Cisowsko-Orłowiński Landscape Park, which stands out due to special natural qualities, among which the marsh plants, which occur on its territory and are protected in two peat-bog nature reverves (“Białe Ługi” and “Słopiec”), deserve a special attention. Jeleniowski Landscape Park with absolutely mountainous character, in which boulder fields (sandstone quartzite debris) are the major natural curiosity.
Chęcińsko-Kielecki Landscape Park is extremely interesting. Due to its geological qualities it is called a geological museum in the open air.
On the southern territories of the voivodeship three Landscape Parks have been enclosed in Ponidzie Landscape Parks and these are: Nadnidziański Landscape Park, which was established to protect unique to Poland gypsum crystals of the big crystal shape. The Nida river valley with numerous meanders and old river beds and water and marsh fowl sanctuary is the characteristic element in the park landscape. In addition to this, the park stands out due to the accumulation of many relics of material culture. This is the place where the first Vistulan country with the centre of power in Wiślica was established. Szaniecki Landscape Park protects numerous original enclaves of valuable landscape with picturesque calcareous and gypsum hills and stenothermic communities of xerothermic plants, marsh plants and halophytes. Gypsums of the big crystal shape are the most precious element of the park inanimate nature. Kozubowski Landscape Park is an area with outstanding landscape, natural and esthetic qualities. It is characterised by the varied lie of the land and vast wooded areas. Very interesting xerothermic flora occurs there.
