    Description

At the town market there are two tenement houses dating back to the 18th century, which house the collection of a museum of clocks founded and run by the Przypkowski Family.

The museum can boast of its rich and diversified collections of sundials, gnomon devices and various time-measuring devices such as hourglasses, fire and mechanical clocks as well as astronomic equipment. The collection is considered as third such in the world after Oxford and Chicago collections. There are about 600 volumes and, among them, the most precious ones, namely Nicholas Copernicus’ De revolutionimbus orbium coelestium of 1566 and copies signed by Hevelius, Descartes and Huygens. It is worth seeing the collection of about 25 000 drawings and exlibrises created from the 16th to 20th centuries and the preserved interiors of the Przypkowski Family filled with art collections.
